It's another beautiful day

It's another beautiful day here. Tulips and daffodils are coming up. If the plants know what they're doing it looks like spring can't be far off. I'm in the process of trying to decide if there is a reason I should force myself to join a group or something. I almost feel guilty about enjoying being at home and not doing something everyday. I look at my friends-active in groups and community activities and wonder if I should do it. I sometimes feel guilty for being happy with the status quo. I enjoy knitting, crocheting, poly clay and cooking. I don't enjoy joining groups with other women that I don't know. I do bowl twice a week ,but that is because my daughter insists. I am a member of the 500 club and try to attend meetings regularly.Over the last five years I've gotten to know the people at the bowling alley. Other than that I best love sitting out in my back patio reading and spending time with my pets. I find it very comforting and relaxing. Our main social activity is going to the casino 3 days a week for lunch. We have a group of friends there.
I have family close by and our daughter visits almost daily with the grand kids.

Playoff games.

Well it seems that Tom Brady and the mighty Patriots gave the Broncos a lesson on playing a football game last night. Tim Tebow took it like a man with good humor and kind words. It will be very interesting to see the final two teams going to the Super Bowl.

I am now knitting a cap for Nick at his request. What 16 year old wants to wear a hand knitted cap made by his grandma? It is going to be his school colors-purple and yellow. So far it looks good. Hope he likes it. His brothers love hand knit socks too. Ryan wears them every night.

We are having another beautiful day here. Sun is shining and the temp is mild. We do have some cold weather coming starting tonight. I will have to blanket the horse as it will be in the 20's. No rain expected till next Friday.

Football

Today Tim Tebow and the Broncos play the mighty Patriots and Tom Brady. What a game that will be. Tebow may not be a great quarterback yet, after all he's only been the starter since Oct. 9,2011. A mere 4 months, but he truly believes that they can win. Now if Americans had the same feeling we might be great again. He is setting an example for all of us to follow.
No more apologizing for America! We have saved more of this planet from oppression than any other nation. We never took their land as spoils but rebuilt them so they could prosper. Our military is the greatest on this earth! Mr.Obama's European model does not work here. We are a free people and will stay that way. Thank you, Tim Tebow, for your inspiration.

Mario the cat
I find as I get older I want to retreat to my home to spend time with friends and family. I feel no need to join any group or organization. I do bowl on two leagues at our local, small alley. This I do only at the insistence of my daughter. I do enjoy it but I would not have chosen the activity myself. There are a good deal of very nice and diverse folks in this area. We live in a very small town and I have gotten to know most of them over the 20 years we have been here. It is very much a keep to yourself area. Very independent people who would help you out in time of need but mind their own business otherwise. Neighbors are not leaning over the back fence to talk ,you actually have to seek them out for conversation, making it more worthwhile.
I am enjoying a quite afternoon at home with my husband and pets. Sitting on the back patio in the warm sun reading my Kindle. For those of you who don't have a Kindle yet , you don't know what you are missing. I just love mine and now they are so inexpensive there is no excuse for not getting one!
This is the best part of retirement-not having to do anything you don't want to do!

January 2012

Our weather has been absolutely beautiful this winter. We will pay this coming summer if it doesn't rain and snow. We have a private well and will probably have to buy water delivery a couple of times this summer. Last summer we did'nt water the trees and bushes on the property. It had rained a lot the previous winter so they seemed to survive without it. This summer it will be a problem. This is one of the disadvantages of country living. The many advantages outweigh the few disadvantages though. Clear, clean air, quiet  and peacful, low crime rate and small town atmosphere.
